spring clean slate
We are moving in May, something I’m quite desperate excited to do. Our current apartment is 100 years old - no hyperbole - and what was amazing to me five years ago when I moved in at 24 (two whole bedrooms! Hardwood floors! Charming vintage features!) no longer impresses me (did I mention the nasty old tile in the bathroom? The ugly wallpaper? The never-clean linoleum kitchen floor? The paper thin walls?)
One’s priorities change with age: our new home has a gourmet kitchen, modern bathroom and third bedroom. May I never have to hear the downstairs neighbor’s alarm clock go off - or his toilet flush - as if I was in the same room ever! again!
Naturally, I already have decor and design plans for the space. I’ll wait until we’re actually moved in to purchase anything substantial, but I had some old gift cards to Lowe’s and Pier1 that were burning a hole in my pocket. Here’s what I got.
For my mirror gallery wall (I love a good quatrefoil!):

allen + roth quatrefoil cloche framed mirror; $64.97 at Lowes.com
For the bedside tables (matching yellow Trollstas from Ikea) in squat/square crystal vases:

Cream hydrangea stems; $6 each; in-store only at Pier 1
For some bare little nook or shelf:

Letters and numbers decorative spheres (I got M & R); $2 each; in-store only at Pier1
